He wants to sway enough older and moderate voters to win. Kamala's issues regarding her prosecutorial career would matter less to them than her relatively moderate political stances. My in-laws are in this demographic. Live in a swing state. Small town. Business owners. A lot of them voted for Trump, mostly because they fundamentally did not like Hillary as a person (and cannot really articulate why). But even in a Fox News bubble, they aren't particularly pleased with Trump's performance and are open to Biden. I've already gotten a text from my father-in-law seemingly excited about the Kamala pick. My worry is that Biden croaks before 2024, and then Kamala is up for election. Kamala isn't popular and I'm skeptical that she can win as a presidential candidate. He picks the cop lady during massive protests of police brutality around the country talk about tone-deaf. This is gonna be hard I really don't want to vote for a cop and single mother jailing enthusiast. Not to be too harsh about it, but at the end of the day, Bidens going to need those suburban moderates who think that the movement has good points but the riots and looting have ruined their message.
